Epic Win for Anonymous: How 4chan?s Army Conquered the Web

Epic Win for Anonymous: How 4chan's Army Conquered the Web - Cole Stryker Boring. Follows the author as he explores 4chan and describes popular sites on the internet. It reads as several Wikipedia articles bound together. It tells nothing of Anonymous, nor how 4chan has "conquered" the web. DNF at 25%.

Boring novel in a surely boring series by a irrelevant reality TV star. Lots of textspeak, "like," whining, and "hot guys." I frequently pondered whether the author even knew of the crucial parts that make up a book. Don't miss this one. [/sarcasm]

2.5 stars

This book was just okay for me. It had a lot of potential but fell short when it really mattered. Superficial characters, a too-perfect ending, and a weak villain made this book suffer. Not an awful read, but not anything to get overly excited about. A good read if you don’t expect too much.

Splintered

Splintered - A.G. Howard Splintered really is a stunning debut, but not without flaws. While the general plot is good, in some places it was poorly executed. Flimsy characters wrap up this novel, preventing any real character growth. For a first novel, this book is well done. The world is impressive, along with the new versions of classic characters. It is enjoyable the majority of the time, but a few pet peeves may prevent that. I am curious about the next book in this series, Unhinged.

Bitterblue (Graceling)

Bitterblue - Kristin Cashore, Ian Schoenherr Why was she crying so much?

The plot never seemed resolved to me. Bitterblue searches for answers fervently yet so easily she gives up at the end. I wanted answers too. There was a great opportunity for Cashore and in the end she decided to put in some vague filler. I'm not impressed. I felt as though the whole time I was being led up to something so grand that I had no idea what it was, and then....nothing. Disappointing. I wish she had tied up even one of her loose ends.

DESIRE (A Dystopian Fantasy) : Desire Series #1

Desire - Kailin Gow I'm pretty confused by all the good reviews this book is getting. Seriously? I thought the writing was terrible, and the characters weren't much better. I think this was actually written by a 10-year-old. Things just happened out of nowhere, new concepts introduced, and you were just supposed to roll with it with NO backstory whatsoever. I cannot emphasize enough the fact that there wasn't any backstory on anything. Even the romance that took place - just kinda popped out of nowhere in one scene! Everything felt so casually thrown in that I couldn't enjoy it at all. "Hey, the book is still crappy, let's throw in some more popular plot elements!" Judging by how often this author releases new books, she's obviously just cranking them out for cash. This is not quality work. This doesn't deserve to be called a literary work.

Mercy

Mercy - Jodi Picoult Worst Picoult book I've ever read. Why.

Perfect Chemistry

Perfect Chemistry - Simone Elkeles The Spanish felt forced, like the author was trying way too hard to make them Mexican. I know sometimes they speak in that English/Spanish mix, but it didn't seem real here.

The romance seemed to develop quite rapidly. Although it is a Romeo/Juliet type story.

I respect the author for not selling out the sex scene and making it graphic. It was done very tastefully.

Overall, I was surprised I liked this as much as I did. It is a good read, but I'm not interested enough in Alex's brothers to continue the series.
